讲座1: Behavioral Neuropharmacology of Sensory Processing in Non-Human Primates

摘要: This seminar provides an overview of various ligand-receptor systems for regulating pain or itch sensation in monkeys. There are three objectives in this presentation. Objective 1: To investigate diverse neuropeptides in terms of their pain- and itch-eliciting versus –inhibiting effects at both supraspinal and spinal levels. Objective 2: To discuss the research and development of kappa opioid receptor agonists as general antipruritics. Objective 3: To examine the therapeutic profiles of nociceptin/orphanin FQ peptide (NOP) receptor agonists and bifunctional NOP-mu opioid receptor agonists, and inform a translational path for the development of NOP-related ligands as safe analgesics without abuse liability. This presentation will allow attendees to learn how pharmacological studies in non-human primates facilitate translational studies and identify viable targets for therapeutics.

讲座2: Trace amine-associated receptor 1 as a novel target to treat drug addiction

摘要: This seminar focuses on the current knowledge on the role that trace amine-associated receptor 1 (TAAR 1) plays in modulating drugs of abuse, especially psychostimulants. Our work and others have shown convincing preclinical data supporting the development of selective TAAR 1 agonists as a novel pharmacotherapy against drug addiction. I will present data to show that selective TAAR 1 agonists modulate all aspects of psychostimulant abuse and relapse at behavioral, anatomical and molecular levels.
